Difference Between AVI and Motion JPEG

I'm new to this forum.... hope to learn more from the photography experts here.....

Can anyone explain to me wat is the difference between AVI file and Motion JPEG? Then, what's the difference between Motion JPEG and MPEG?

I think motion jpeg is the same as mpeg. maybe some of the gurus here can help

Video is made up of several individual frames put together to create an illusion of motion. Motion JPEG only compresses each single frame of the video while MPEG does this and also compresses across frames.
