At any given equivalent aperture setting do digital ZLR have a greater depth of field than a Digital SLR?

DOF shld be dependant on the lens, Since a digital sensor is a croped version of a flim neg, the DOF shld be the same. =)

cheers!

Just plugging in some numbers seem to suggest otherwise at this site.

Lets compare 35mm camera
At 75mm at f/2.8 with the lens focused at 20 feet has a DOF of 18.3-22 ft

A D70 which is a 1.5x camera so I will need to use a 50mm lens for the equivalent image size again focused at 20ft and set at f/2.8 has a DOF of 17.6-23.2 ft. Notice for exactly the same image size, the DOF has gone up due to using a different format which results in needing a smaller lens for the same photo. Is thiis the real world application of a smaller sensor and its resultant larger DOF for the same subject size?

depth of field is dependent on actual focal length (&distance to subject), not effective focal length
