Some equitorial, tropical isle
Just when the USAF is phasing them out for the F-22 Raptors.....
;p

Looks like a raw deal....
:dunno:

What do you think?

Face it. We'll never get raptors. 3/4s of their tech is still classified under class 1.

Wisp, I was thinking the Rafale would have a longer shelf life.... Raptors are put of course... but Australia is in the JSF programme.

TMC, or some other newer generation strike aircraft. That F-15 airframe is already a few decades old....

Yes!! To get ready for next year NDP shot, starting saving F/F body with 1/4000 sec shutter speed, L lens with USM + Image Stabilizer ... ... ... ... ...

Political move? :dunno:

But its partly about the politics. We have close ties with Uncle Sam anyway.
F15s? Well, they maybe old but lets just hope we get brand new ones and not those that are falling apart. :(

What we need next are B52 Stratofortresses and heavy bombers. :)

The basic airframe design may be old, but there have been numerous revisions and upgrades under the hood so its still a capable strike craft. In general the SAF is generally conservative in their buying decisions, favouring combat proven or established designs over newer ones as reliability may still be in question.

In any case, we are still in the JSF program.:)

F-15 is still respectable. Rafale is too "new" an aircraft.
We aint getting 2nd-hand body ... at least they will be new airframes, right?
Will we be getting the "C" or "E" (Strike Eagle) version? Or both?

We need Stealth fighters!! :) Now got Navy Stealth ships liao wat...

yah...we also got navy ship that can transform into robot, so our new fighter jets will be able to transform into UFO

Its a F-15T version. Made just for Singapore.
F-15 Terrible....;p
F-15 Tan Dio!!!! :bsmilie:

Jokes aside... its configured as a Strike Eagle but with downgraded technology for the moment. The F-15 is currently the top fighter in the US until the delivery of the F-22... as such, they would not be providing us the best technology yet.

The worrying part is that the US is phasing out the F-15 in favour of the F-22. So I expect that the F-15 would not be further developed due to cost issues. This is different from the F-16 in which the US has a active buyer (Isreal) which saw the development of newer capabilities. The F-16 still has some time to go before the JSF gets deveoped.

No lar... the F-15 is the one in Transformer! Starscream!
Hahhahahaa...

Decepticons... retreat!!!!

Btw, the stealth ships are quite nice. However, the Oto Melera guns are not very stealthy... its an old design. The swedish steath ships are using the newer stealth turrets.

I guess our guys stationed in France with the Super Skyhawks must have evaluated the Rafale while our F-16 guys in the US evaluated the F-15 Strike Eagle.

I guess its partly political and partly weapons systems interoperability. If political... then I guess its played nicely... buy stealth ships from france and strike eagles from US.;p

The Rafale should be able to work with our systems since it is of NATO standards.

Probably the Americans are better at marketing....

Still look at M'sia... buy some MiG-29s and US offer huge discounts for F-18s.... (but operating 2 disparate systems is costly)

Maybe we should have bought a couple of Rafales as a bargaining chip...
;)

Read it somewhere (long time ago) that a F-15 can fly to an altitude & lunge a missile to destroy satelite. Don't know true or false?:dunno:
