D90 shutter replacement

Guys, how you all determine if the shutter need to be replace?

Today i press the dop button and the shutter stop working then it shows an err. I tried turning it off and on again. But its the same, when i try to take a pic, i can hear some motor trying to spin but cant activate the shutter. Is it a case of shutter near its life span?

How much is it to change a shutter?

May be a common problem...dirty contacts of camera body and lens.Try cleaning them first.
Another one is low battery at time of error occurance.Switch to new battery and manual mode to trigger shutter.Read this 1st. link for other peoples experiences.

i think mine is similar to the last video, but after spraying wd40, still cannot work...

GHow much is it to change a shutter?

You can check with Nikon Service Center.
Alternatively, you can contact our DIY expert fatigue. here in the forum.

You should not have used WD40...although it says it cleans but it is a LUBRICANT.Hope it did not stain the mirror. Use achohol(IPA) or methalated spirit ( from hardware/paintshop) not thinner which melts plastic for electrical contacts.

I think this idea of "spraying the red gear with WD40" has ruined more cameras than fixing it.
