Hi, I'm going on a trip to hangzhou and shanghai next week. Bringing my D800 and 16-35 f4. I also need a telezoom lens. I have the 24-120 f3.5-5.6. Question is this 24-120 f3.5-5.6 suitable for D800 or the 24-85 f3.5-4.5, mentioned as a FX lens.

Thank you for reading and your valuable recommendation.

I will take the 24-120 for the additional range

All fx lenses are suitable.

And this thread would be better in the Nikon subforum as it is not a general question.

Why the idea of getting the 24-85mm since u already have the 24-120?

Because he does not understand that the 24-120 is also an fx lens.

And he has some bizarre concept of lenses that are "suitable" for a camera body without asking himself what lenses are suitable to his needs.

Hi, Bro

Since you have 16-35 F4 VR and 24-120 G then just bring this 2 pieces.

If you can bring more lens an better only one.

The D800 worry free for works with G lens.
Even AFD still great IQ.

Thanks Bro rain5533 for your precise and direct answer.

For others who have chipped in, thanks for your input as well. sorry for the bizarre and misconception of the lens and misunderstanding. Actually,I also have the D200 which was paired with the 18-70 when i bought that long ago. a few years back, i went for a trip to S. Korea and needed a longer range lens and a sale person recommended the 24-120 F3.5-5.6. at that time the F4 version was not out in the market. So all along, i thought that this 24-120 F3.5-5.6 is a DX lens and i heard that using a DX lens on a FX body might not be suitable or get the best out of the FX body sensor.

That's all.

Thanks you.

Hangzhou in autumn.. no more peach blossoms... Remember to visit the French quarter in Shanghai. Hengshan Lu and Ulumuqi Lu area.. all the Yarwood Sycamore trees are all turning yellow and orange. Extremely beautiful. Perfect for portraits.

Bring 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200vr2. ;p

Is indeed soft, a photograher use it with D3s for my bro wedding as 24-70 is in factory.

Sharper image, usually is depend users, how to adjusted the sharpness or edit or use smaller aperture with proper using speed light.

If you have to ask such a rudimentary question, sorry no offenses, but its no longer a question of which lens suitable for which body but which camera system more suitable for user.

I recommend a point and shoot for you since you are going traveling.

No need to bring P&S, I bring along my hand phone with camera. Sorry for the remark. If you have nothing constructive to contribute, please keeps your stupid senseless unnecessary commence to your self. I thanks all for their difference preferences and constructive contribution.
Sorry no offence.

The 16-35 is sharp, just add a 85mm f1.8 and you will be fine, I just came back from seoul and shot mostly with a 28mm f1.8

Don't think you require a telephoto lens when traveling. It's not like you're going to stalk someone in the streets :bsmilie:

When I travel I only take landscapes and street with a 50mm
