D800 FF for Birding

Haha, of course, with it's cropped portion of more than 18mp (even more than D7000) why wouldn't it be? Other than BIF which might be a little more challenging to achieve, it's a great tool for both wildlife (macro photography included) and landscape!

D800 in dx mode is 15.3 MP.
 

new-style birding : point randomly, hold down shutter button, then go back to computer and look for the bird at 100% or more...
 

DX sensor is 2/3 length and 2/3 height of FX sensor, hence DX is 4/9 of FX area.

Ha ha, all you need is a picture of the tree, or the sky for BIF. Just the dof.
