Just back yesterday nite from a trip.
D700 with fully-charged batt and after less than a 100 shots top screen erratically displayed 'Err..' and cam did fired away but shots not registered.
Did try on/off button, changed batt, dismount/re-mount lens, changed M card, clean contacts, etc but problem still persist.
Then out of the blue cam functioned well again.
Can't afford to have this problem for my next outing.

Guys care to advise..

Thanks

just checked the user manual p.412,
it was a camera malfunction,
may be something is wrong with the camera,
so you may need to visit NSC...good luck :)

Yes did look up the manual and to be on the safe side will need to send cam to NSC before my next outing which will probably be Thaipusam

Thanks for the highlight.

MY err message only when len not mount properly or battery .. Do update us your finding after NSC... All the best..

any updates? Hope it was a minor issue.
'Err' quite unspecific I think.

Haven't sent the cam to NSC.
Cam is functioning as per normal now.
It's just a matter of when this 'Err' will pop up again or it never will.

My 3rd party batt also keep giving me the same problem. but a simple unload and reload will solve the problem

try cleaning your lens mount contacts.

google dead battery syndrome. its quite common with 3rd party batteries.

Hope its the batteries.
It so happened that I was using 3rd party batteries that day when this 'Err' incident arised. Didn't have the original with me or else would be able to detect what actually was the fault.
Outing next week on Thaipusam and see if everything goes smoothly.
