Hello,
just bought a new D300, realised that it does not come with the flash cover like D80... is this normal? Do the rest of D300 owners also don't have the flash cover? :dunno:

Is it safe if I leave it alone without any cover, worried about accidently spoiling the contact points.... :(

what is flash cover?

what is flash cover?

On the D80 guide it says 'accessory shoe cover'

its the one that covers the part where u attach an external flash... ;)

hotshoe cover (BS-1)....can try Lords at Lucky Plaza...think they have quite a number in stock...

thanks, but shouldn't it come with the camera? sigh! so disappointed that they left out such a small piece of plastic....

Maybe they left it out for a reason. E.g. if you are doing an event and in the rush, the plastic might be in a way.

I think the cover can reduce the chances of the hotshoe mount being dented and preventing the flash from being attached properly :)

I bought my hot shoe cover at Cathay Photo for only 3 dollars...

Or you can buy a $670 plus hot shoe cover. The model number is SB 900.

Never needed one ever....

d300 came with one but I have never took it out of the plastic bag.

D300 dun come with the hotshoe cover. The one in the plastic is the DK-5 viewfinder eyepiece cap.

Cheers
