Hi all. As you most probably have noticed, I'm a canon user but I've been around the Nikon forums quite a lot, trying to learn about another system as well, and recently something cropped up that I just wanna find out more about.

Recently, I was playing with my friend's D200 + SB800 combo, and I realised that every time I wanted to fire off, there were these two distinct small flashes before the shutter could be released, and the flash fired proper. These two flashes occurred in about a space of 1.5s, before the shutter was released. I'm just wondering why this occurred.

Thanks in advance!

I thinks its the ' red Eye ' reduction mode that makes a few flashes first before the real thing ;p

in fact all cameras have that too

Ahh thanks for the quick reply. So, just for knowledge's sake, it's disabled from the camera body?
