D.I.Y. water proof your camera and lens

It happen to me at the rally just now when it starts to pour, although my camera and lens are splash proof, sadly the sky juice was a bit too much for me.

Beside buying those special made water proof items for camera. Does anyone do any interesting D.I.Y. to keep the equipment out of the rain in minimum?

Effective and cheap option.

Or armour your camera with an U/W housing... dead sure water-proof

A spec of sand or a strand of hair is all it can take to undo a housing. A friend's camera found out the hard way.
