Hello all,

Just wondering about a niggling issue with the setting of the custom white balance on the D60. Is there some other way to set the custom white balance to suit the ambient lighting rather than the manual-indicated method of first taking a picture of a white background (for reference) AND THEN loading it into the custom white balance function?

I remember a much simpler and straightforward method on my Olympus prosumer, where all I needed to do was to focus on a white background while in the custom white balance mode, then clicking on the 'OK' button to confirm the white balance. It's simpler since there is no picture actually being taken and no necessity for 'loading' it in a separate function; just simply pointing and shooting.

Lastly, is there SOME reason for this? Or maybe simply because being an SLR, you can't just point and shoot? Surely, you could do this by looking into the viewfinder instead of the LCD?

As far as I am aware - no.
