Hello guys,

I am using an old 5050z, and still not quite sure how to use the custom white balance feature? Anyone can tell me the usefulness of this?

Also, my camera has ESP metering, spot metering and matrix metering. Is ESP = centre weighted metering?

Lastly, I have seen people use 18% grey cards for taking pictures. What is it used for? And how to use it?

Thanks in advance. :)

ESP is probably Oly's version of matrix or evaluative metering.

Custom WB, best you post under Olympus folder to get help.

18% grey cards are used for custom white balance as well as metering/light control.

ESP? then i have 2 matrix metering? any OLY users want to confirm this?

actually i tried, but the OLYMPUS forum is usualy very quiet. :)

Sorry ah fish, hijack...

Chook, how exactly do you set the 18% grey? I.e to say, whenever u go to a certain light condition you set the 18% grey under that light issit?

Sorry may not be new member anymore, but still v much a noob... haha

I think its a card where it is 18% grey. You use it with the lightning that you are going to shoot and set the white balance before taking the shot. My 2 cents input.

ongsw.. you are using olympus too, do you know if the DSP metering is centre weighted metering?

anyone knows?
