FAQ

Who normally attends Crossing Bridges?

Past participants have come from the ranks of both professionals and keen amateurs WITH A SENSE OF CREATING NEW FRIENDSHIPS with other like minded photographers from different countries around Asia.

This is because the ultimate aim of each Crossing Bridges trip is to ....... create and cross bridges .... across different cultures and photography backgrounds

Participants are selected not only on their photography aptitudes but also on their passion, open-mindedness and personalities

Will meals cater for Muslims, vegetarians, no-beef diets?

The organizers are able to cater for vegetarians and those on a no-beef or NO PORK diet . BUT UNFORTUNATELY they cannot cater for Halal certified meals

I can just DIY a trip like this with my own friends at another date ?

Sure, its a free world and there is no secret on the itinerary..... if its PURELY photography, sightseeing, eating and nothing else, then going to Crossing Bridges is NOT for you

Will we be doing all the popular stuff while in Korea?

Some items/locales will be iconic BUT the mandate to the organizers is to keep AWAY from the usual beaten tourist paths and to SHOWCAsE the REAL Korea to participants

I hear that EVERY YEAR sleep deprivation is common throghout the entire trip?

Yes.....dont expect too much sleep ....... most years participants get about 4 to 6 hours of sleep daily. Early move-outs for sunrises..... late night sharing and discussions .... updating of personal logs and social media.... these are the main culprits

Can I sign up with my wife or GF ?

NO sorry wives and GFs/BFs are not allowed ..... book a seperate holiday with your wife or GF

Can female photographers participate?

Many female photographers from Singapore and other countries participate in Crossing Bridges. And many of them shoot better and often haul more equipment than the guys

Whats the most important things I should bring along for Crossing Bridges if I am selected?

a. a sunny character in constant friend-making mode
b. ability to laugh and joke around is IMPORTANT
c. an Open Mind

Whats the selection criteria that is used to pick successful participants?

TOP MOST is your participation history in Clubsnap community
Participants will be a mix of past attendees and first-timers to Crossing Bridges (usually 40/60 ratio)

Are there assignments, homework etc etc during the trip ?

Yes there is usually a country introduction on the opening night ceremonies where participants from each country are to put up a combined slide show of images introducing their country

See below for example

During the trip itself there is usually a running competition where results are announced on the Closing Night with winners and prizes eg. Crossing Bridges 10 last year had the entire group split into different random teams to submit a team slideshow with the theme Singapore Through My Eyes where prizes were given out

I spent the last 3 weeks working on almost 100 applications going through each and every applicant's history in Clubsnap

I wish that I can bring at least 60-70 of you guys but spaces are limited

I did however manage to negotiate for additional slots and in the end got 24

To those that did not make the list I apologize to each of you, my advise is to participate more in the community and stay encouraged for next year.... most likely a Sri Lankan odessy in 2015

If any of the 24 selected participants for Team Singapore drop out , I will do ANOTHER call for replacement.

This list of almost 100 applications , save for the lucky 24, will be dissolved.

I will be sending a PM to the 24 chosen photogs with instructions and requests for personal details. Please respond by 1 MAY LATEST

If there is no response by 1 May 23.59hrs I assume that you have changed your mind about participating.... no hard feelings and open up the vacated slot for others.

thanks everyone ...... go check your PM Inbox in an hour time

PMs have been sent out to successful applicants

If you have not received a PM, then my deepest apologies for not having been selected this year
