Hello all,

If I intend to crop my shots in Photoshop for printing eg. 4x6 or 8x12, at what pixel resolution should I set it too eg. 300 dpi/inch and so on.

Most of my prints will be at 4x6 with occassional 8x12.

Thanks in advance.

In PS -> Image -> image size.

set the resulution to 300dpi.
in the X and Y setting, choose inch
then for the width, choose 6 and heigth choose 4 (or width 4 and heigth choose 6 for potrait)... the pixel will be automatically choosen for you.

150 dpi if you are sending for online printing for 4R

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advices. Guess I did the right thing. I had been setting them at 300dpi but was not sure. Thanks a lot.

How will it affect the final printing if you set to different dpi?

AFAIK, 180 dpi still still fine thou.

But I think FUJI FRONTIER provides best quality print at 300 dpi. anything beyond it will be ignore.

So the best resolution for 4x6 print (4R) will be 1800 x 1200.

i wuz trying to send my photos to adamphoto.com.sg for printing. but, when i resized my pics under image size -> resize, to 8x10, my resolution drops to 72 pixels/inch. shld i change it to 300 dpi?

72 px per inch is web resolution... too low.

another way is to crop @ 4in by 6in @ 300dpi

Hi, this is a small table I have done as a guide for resizing of pictures before printing... I still need to finish the A3, A4 and A5...
I hope it helps...
Ok... I don't know how to make a table in here... I pasted this from a Word table but the result is not good... Sorry if it's not very readable...
