Cropping image for developing

How should I go about doing it? is there any guideline for me to follow by?
like the size ratio etc?

cosi i crop one image by the side only cos the side got empty space...

please advise

friend told me the machine in labs will auto crop .. and thus a risk to getting our image with weird cropping effect if i didn't crop properly

Usally for 3R and 4Rs, the crop ratio is 2:3. When u send for printing, just ask for "fit-in" can liao. Best to make sure the guy there know u cropped it urself already, or they will do additional cropping untop of ur own.

Really depends on what size you intend to deevelop.
