Creative Youth Exchange

Organised by: MITA/CREATIVE INDUSTRIES SINGAPORE

Fancy a chance to win S$20,000? Want to interact up close and personal with cinematic icon Francis Ford Coppola, legendary marketing strategist Al Ries, hip-hop visionary Russell Simmons and leading Singaporean business icons, Ho Kwon Ping of Banyan Tree Group and Jennie Chua of Raffles Holdings? Creative Youth Xchange is a cross-disciplinary competition for Asian youth that will culminate in a debate on 17 August 2004 in The Chambers of Singapore’s Old Parliament House. The competition will call for prototyped projects at the intersection of arts, design, media and technology that would impact cultural development, economic progress, social growth and technological advancement. The debate at The Chambers in Old Parliament House would offer Asian youths a unique environment and rare opportunity to interact intimately with globally acknowledged creative leaders and established practitioners in the Creative Industries.

Theme: Asia Future 2029.
Details: We invite you to imagine Asia's Future. It will be fascinating to speculate on what Asia will look like then. How will we be living? What will people be listening to? What will they be wearing? Where will the IT revolution have led us? What will change, and what is likely to be timeless? What will we have lost and gained? Or perhaps it is important to consider how we will be remembered. What will survive 25 years from now? What elements of society as we know it are so powerful that they will survive? Will there be anything uniquely Asian left?

Think Asia ・imagine the vision of the future.

Any entries, whether it is a visual display of themed photos, a futuristic presentation of a distinctly Asian product like the chopsticks, Asian character creation perhaps translated into animation or even robotics, Asian fashion reinterpreted are all acceptable.

Open to participants from: Asia/Regional
Entries deadline: 17 July 2004
