hi guys,

Was wondering whether it is safe to do without a swap file in my system (currently had 1 gig). Anyone who has been running without a swap/page file without crashing? How's the performance gain? Thanks.. ;)

Normally you will need at least some swap file. If you have like 2+gb of RAM it shloud be safe to allocate a small amount of swap unless you intendd to run ram heavey apps like games... My current 1.5GB of ram runs with a 500MB reserved swap file but only uses up about 10-50 with about 900+mb of ram free..

Better to have some because if you run out of both swap and main memory windows will hang...

when i got 1GB RAM last time, i disable pagefile but it will be created automatically when i open photoshop.

now i got 1.5GB, disable pagefile also...but i dun get the notice saying that pagefile will be created when i use photoshop
