You mean I need to update the drivers?
Never had to do anything like that for 7 years.
I don't see how the drivers suddenly stop working.
I am using a Mac, by the way.

is your mouse as old as your PC?

if all your usb ports are utilized at the back of your tower
might be not enough electric to power up the mouse properly

so use a usb port with dc power usually can solve this problem

or get a new mouse
or get a new psu
or get a new pc

I am not using a PC, I am using a Macbook Pro.
It is not very old - 2+ years on Snow Leopard.
I am only using 1 usb port!

Speaking of usb ports, one usb port also stopped working suddenly one day.
So I can only use 1 usb port now.
I use a hub if I need to use more than one port.
