Not sure if this has been mentioned before but just want to share a web resource I've found with regards to using colour filters for black and whites.

Ofcos, one does not need to buy actual physical filters for digital cameras. This can be done in PP and allows for much more control over the final output. The linked article gives a good illustration of the effects of the colour adjustments (first diagram).
I'm still a n00b, picking up photography again. Still learning. Do feel free to chip in. Hope to learn from the pros here!
