i have been wanting to buy a ND grad but it comes in a set with other filters i dun want.

i reckon u got the 'P' series right?

You guys can also try this software called nik Color Efex Pro. I believe it got all the Cokin filter effects plus more others.

However, it's a post processing effect integrated into Adobe Photoshop.
I think there's also a stand alone version.

Not all effects can be applied effectively through post processing, I suppose.

Software based Graduated ND is not that effective. A true ND Grad filter blocks bright skylight from blowing and allows enough light from the lower part of the scene.

Unless we have very good dynamic range digital sensors, otherwise, what is blown, there's always no detail.

However, Color filters can be simulated from software based filters very closely. It's always good to try and get a feel of how these effects were achieved traditionally.

I think almost everyone knows that digital effects can achieve many things. However, it's always good to know how these were done traditionally.

Agree, but some tradiotional skillset are worth preserving and its priceless.

Learning to ride bicycle is something fun and worth even we have cars and MRT today.
