CNY: How to take Fireworks Pix?

Hi all,

I am Alan, a newbie here and also the world of digital photography. Recently juz got myself a Canon G3(after a year of saving). Not bad a digital camera but I am not technical enough to fully tap it's potential.

As CNY is coming and a fireworks display is usually performed at the Marina Bay, I would like to try out my first fireworks shots.

Can any fellow members help in teaching me what are the settings on my G3 should be done and the procedures to capture such shots?
