It's Back! Singapore will once again host the world's only night race in Formula 1.

We launched the “Spirit of the Race” photo competition with Seagate Technology for ClubSNAP members last year with much success. Hundreds of entries were received and the quality of the photography was outstanding!

This year, we are bringing the competition back with our friends at Seagate Technology to give ClubSNAP members a chance to be part of the Formula 1 action once again.

As we all know, without digital storage there is no digital photography – so here’s your chance to win some of the best of class external hard drives for your storage needs. Seagate Technology have given us a range of six of their award-winning FreeAgent™ Go external hard disk drives as prizes for the best photos submitted by ClubSNAP members.

The competition seeks to capture the ‘Spirit’ of the race in Singapore – not just the race itself but the excitement and activities around Singapore. We are looking for photos that show how the event has captured the hearts and the imagination of Singaporeans. Whether its street celebrations, race day parties, the preparations, corporate functions, or just people out and about enjoying the excitement – it’s all about capturing the unique qualities Singapore brings to this international event.

First place winner will receive a Seagate 2 Terabyte FreeAgent™ Desk Drive and the five runner- ups will each receive a Seagate 320GB FreeAgent™ Go Drive with Dock and Case.

i recall someone mentioned that the F1 tickets has some restriction on the use of photographs which includes prohibiting of using for competitions etc.. perhaps it will be good to clarify this.

This is their guidelines : http://tickets.singaporegp.sg/tnc_sistic.html

Read part 6.

" Ticket Purchasers and Ticket Holders acknowledge that FOA and third parties authorised by FOA may make or record film or other forms of moving pictures, still pictures, sound recording or any of them of the Race (including, without limitation, of Ticket Purchasers and Ticket Holder). Unless the Ticket Purchaser or Ticket Holder otherwise reaches an agreement with FOA, each Ticket Purchaser and Ticket Holder hereby grants the FIA, FOA and/or FOM and third parties authorised by them permission to use photographs, film, tape, or other images or likenesses of the Ticket Purchaser and/or Ticket Holder, or any sound recording, in any media (including publication within and outside Singapore) and for any purpose without identification, compensation or payment of any kind."

That's a release just in case any footage they take includes you.

Check this esp. the clauses under Section 6:
http://tickets.singaporegp.sg/tnc_sistic.html

From what I understand, any photos taken during the GP are for personal/private/non-commercial purposes and nobody else has the 'copyright' over it. So, we as participants can not transfer the (non-existent) right over the pic to the organizers of this competition.

Would be great if somebody clarified this?

Mine also. Submitted 3 photos on 15 October 09. All 3 photos missing from 'Spirit of the Race' gallery. Wondering what happen?

I had hidden some images as the date/timestamp was 16th October. If there is an error made in the submission timing, we will accept the entries.

Thanks for the clarification, Darren. I am very sure that I submitted my 3 photos before 2359hrs on 15 Oct 09. And the submission timing was shown as Thu Oct 15, 2009.

I had 2 photos timestamped as 15th, and 1 photo timestamped as 16th (even though I remember I submitted before 2359hrs 15th)
Anyway, thanks for looking into this issue Darren.
