I've been struggling for a while now deciding where to store my photos. For the first 15 yrs or so I stored them on a hard disk where I would view them maybe 5 to 10 times after storing them. Then I bought an external hard disk with wifi function so I could access them via multiple devices whenever I wanted. Also didn't increase the viewing frequency. Since 1-2 years I've been exploring the option of cloud storage as not only I but my family wants to view the pictures (so there's also a privacy issue). I've looked at Flickr and 500px and found them good for displaying my (self percieved) good work. I've explore Dropbox and find it's not suitable for photo management. And Google Photos has a difficult sorting logic (by date) - which I find impractical as I store also old scanned photos.
So I'm wondering how the wider community ensures that all those precious photos don't disappear on a hard disk somewhere never to be seen again?
