Cleaning slides of fungus - what methods can I use?

I am looking through some of my film archive, and horrors: some of the slides have fungus on them. So far those are 35mm mounted slides. I haven't looked at those in film sleeves but I think those should be hardier.

How do I clean off the fungus on the slides safely?

Elsewhere on the web some people have suggested using alcohol. Anybody knows where to get IPA (isopropyl alcohol)? Would say sterilising alcohol be similar?
