The Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA), a group representing Japanese camera manufacturers, is projecting that digital SLRs sales, which grew in 2007 by about 42% over the previous year, will expand by about 22% in 2008, about 13% in 2009 and about 9% in 2010. In 2007, sales of digital cameras surpassed 100 million units for the first time, with digital SLRs accounting for about 7.5 million of that total. Digital SLR sales are expected to reach 11.2 million units in 2010.
