May I know which car you referring? At least unsafest Japanese car able to score 2 stars on EURO NCAP. Chery QQ is big fat "0" this Chinese car is disaster, another 2-3k top up it will get Kia Picanto much more decent car.

european cars are known to be hardy but princess diana died in a bmw ... all boils down to how the car is driven. it's not impossible to have really safe roads, the accident rates in japan is amazingly low, you got to see it to believe it, true courtesy and patience.

The deathrate is link to the number of the models sold in the market.
So, it's not accurate indicator and very subjective. Chery may have 0 death rate outside China, since no one will crazy enough to buy it. Car not cheap in Singapore, 30k for tin can really a lot of money.

The rating is not a matter of how likely it is for a particular car model to be involved in a crash. Rather, the rating is a measure of the likelihood of a driver being killed or seriously injured once a crash has occurred. It is not possible to provide an exact rating for each model. The ratings are more accurate for vehicles involved in a large number of crashes. These are generally the more popular models, which are on the road in larger numbers.

isn't real-life statistics more telling? i'm not comparing chinese cars and japanese cars and european cars though most of you would like to, end of the day, it's the driving culture that counts

Yesh, it was a MB S-class. Well, it depends on the speed, the point of impact, passengers with seat belts or not, airbags and so forth. And also, how good is the crumple zone, etc.

actually i don't see anything unusual about that test. Dashboard into femur and head into steering wheel is pretty common. Just because you don't see pictures of other crash test doesn't mean they look prettier. Is anyone here trying to say a NCap 5 star rated car will let the driver walk out unscathe with no injuries at all? With the car nicely in tact and ready to drive again? :dunno:

Of course, the cheap price of the car means you can't have all the bells and whistles like air bags, side impact bars, crumple zone technology and all those stuff. You pay for what you get.

Just when you thought very established car manufacturers are more reliable?
You got it right alright....

and it was released shortly after they annouced a faulty steering column.
1 up for the popular brand

is there any made-in-China aeroplanes?
yes there is and lots of them. many parts of airplanes that are 'made-in-top-world-places' also have parts that are imported from China.
