Charing batteries with Powerex MH-C401FS

Just got the charger and got a bit confused with the charging instruction highlighted in bold that “Do not place batteries in the charger before powering it up.”
That means we need to power up the charger then put in the batteries?
Sounds weird to me. :think:
Could anyone shed some light on this?

I have MH-C800S. It doesn't say anything like this.
I think you have to connect the power supply unit to the charger (and to the A/C outlet) first and then insert your batteries.
