Changing screen resolution

Hi guys, i'm having some problems with my screen. I have a viewsonic VX2235wm screen that constantly seems to be stretched. The recommended setting is 1680x1050, but somehow i can only set it to 1600x1200. Anyone here know how to set it such that it will be 1680 by 1050? thanks

i tried alr. But i never had this problem before i reformatted my com.

so with the re formatting, something got formatted away and you have not re installed it.
you need to check

Ortega got it right, try updating your video card driver.

ATI once messed up their driver so that I could not run my laptop LCD at its native resolution. I had to google for an obscure solution. You can add custom resolutions into your card drivers, but I remember the detailed process. There are also 3rd party software that can do that. It all depends on your video card.

thanks guys. the card needed an older update of the driver. Manage to find it online. now its working fine. thanks
