Changing of tripod head

Hi CSers,
I'm currently using a Slik 400DX tripod with the 3 way pan head.
I'm thinking of getting a ball head instead.:think:

Question here is,
Does all tripod head have 1 universal screw thread or there are different screw thread mount for diff brand and models of ball head?

most tripod normally have 2 screw size which should cover most ball head range..

That will mean that i'll need to buy my ball head before i choose my screw thread... :think:

bring ur tripod down to try..this way won't go wrong..
