Just cheking out if any CS shooters who uses long lens often with teleconverters ever tried turning the lens mounting collar (those lens with trippod collar) when using the lens with teleconverters to improve center of gravity.....

Usually with the lens alone with the camera body...it looks like:

xxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx ................ooo
xxxxxxx ........................ooo
.............................oooooo

With a 2x teleconverter using the collar this way......(TTT is the teleconverter)

xxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTTTT
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTTTT
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTTTT
xxxxxxxxxxxxx..................ooo
xxxxxxx...........................ooo
......................................oooooo

Just a wild thought....

anyone tried it.....?? BTW I tried it over the week end and its great.

Sulhan

If you mean reversing the direction of the tripod collar then say so lol...

Reversing only works for short light lenses such as an 80-200 seriously large and long lenses (400/2.8, 600/4, 800/5.6 etc) have permanently mounted tripod collars that can't be reversed.

hahaha... as much as I would want to, I guess the CG is still optimum when the tripod collar shoe is in the right way...

tried with 70-200 f2.8 with 1.4x TC and tripod collar reversed before... somehow the CG dun feel right ;P but that's personal perferences :)
