CF in A40 wrong size?

Just bought a canon a40 yesterday.
Can anyone tell me y the 8mb CF shows only 7.5mb and the 128mb CF shows only 124mb in the camera?
Is my camera spoilt?

Nope it's normal. This is because you need to format the disk before using, same like using a harddisk and floppy

This is normal. Nothing to worry about it. Some manufacturer take it that 1KB = 1000 Bytes while others use the 1KB = 1024 Bytes.
