Okay, most likely it is due to spyware (suspect). I'm not sure if you have any tool installed to remove spyware, if not you can get them @ www.download.com. Recommended tools: Spybot (Search & Destroy), Ad-aware. There are many others but I have not tried them yet.
Before you do the above, you might wanna check if your HOST (no extension) file has been modified. You can find it in this folder -> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Open this file with Notepad or any other text editor, and you should only see this, nothing else.
Code:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

do you mean the content in your HOST file contains more than what you see here? If you feel unsafe, you can make a backup of the HOST file. This file will not affect anything even if it does not exist or if it is empty.

Can list out what you have in your host file? If you installed Kazaa lite, you will have a list of advertisement sites. If you're infected with a virus you'll have a list of Anti-Virus sites.

my host file is extremely long..

both netscape and IE cant view dpreview..
