Canon Showroom under Renovation

FYI Canon Link @ Vivocity (showroom) is closed for renovation from 14Feb to 13Mar14. Travelled a long way here only to find out.

Does anyone know why they are renovating? Will there be more items on display?

The best showroom I've seen is the one in Hong Kong. Canon Hong Kong has every conceivable camera, lens, accessory, printer, scanner, etc. Everything is available to try out. Next to a window they have two cameras setup up with long telephoto lenses (400mm and 600mm). Many people use these cameras to take photos of the Hong Kong skyline. All you have to do is pop in your own CF card and shoot.

Hopefully showroom at VivoCity will borrow some of these ideas for improvement.

I peeked in yesterday and it doesn't look like very much has even been done. Just the display tables have been removed, but otherwise all decor remains exactly the same as before. Wonder what they have been doing all this time since Feb... just remove the tables?

HK showroom is fun, and they allow me to shoot around as well.

Stuff in HK are quite familiar with their products as well. Even brochure are better detailed.

They also have pay service which you can print your own photos on the high end PIXMA printers.

Yesterday lunch time pass by saw the showroom complete it renvo...

Demo cameras on display is even less than before. They set up a nice model train display in the center but the train must be "manually" power on by the staffs. Cameras were setup around it so you can take sample shoot of the setup.

The lens showcase have shrink, accessories display case gone...

The previously printer area now become a kids experience area.

DSLR area becomes a demo studio with some strobes...not sure what they want to do...

Canon may be adding more things in, the camera demo booth is quite nice, but just too little cameras on demo.

Current verdict : BAD.
