Canon R7 ,R10 poor lens support

Sales of digital still camera suffered due to iPhone & Android eating into cameras that sell for less than US$1k.
Only ~5.3 million bodies is forecasted to be shipped this year --- globally. This is in contrast of 20+ million bodies in 2012. Feel free to assume that over 15 million of that are APS-C bodies.
Canon has 30 RF lens SKUs in stock right now and have 32 lens SKUs more to go for the next 4 yeas
They want the opportunity of 1st lens sale to go to their 1st party lens that is yet to be released from today to 2026.
If 3rd party makes a sale of that missing lens then odds are that RF camera customer will not replace it with a Canon RF equivalent. That's a lost sale to Canon.
Canon has the right to protect their IPs and do what they want with it. Same with any photog's photo work they've done.
Also a sign of softening demand is how soon the EOS R7 & EOS R10 came out after the RF system was released. It took Canon 5 years. Full frame or larger is what makes up the substantial profit of the industry right now.
Sony has 9 FF bodies & 4 APS-C bodies and the E mount is 12+ years.
Canon & Nikon have half that.

The news is that Viltrox was told to stop. Probably Samyang too. That is it. So far.
The numerous "protest" videos uploaded on YouTube by various reviewers are sometimes accurate. Sometimes not.
Some repeat a rumor they read on Canon Rumors and then they irresponsibly extrapolate that rumor to include ALL 3rd party lens makers.
It may be Geopolitics/National Protectionist thing. Japan does not want China and South Korea to eat its (Canon's) lunch.
The Japanese manufacturers are cooperative among themselves.
So far have not heard Tamron and/or Sigma and/or Tokina being told to stop RF mount by Canon.
Even if that eventually materializes, it is a small deal. Just buy RF or RF-s glass. Was that very difficult?
There are many facets to this.
• For example, among Canon R camera owners, maybe 95% have no plans to buy 3rd party lens. Thus this becomes a non-issue.
• Most Leica SL2 (full frame) owners and S3 (medium format) owners probably have no intention to put a 3rd party lens on their camera body.
It becomes a shameful downgrade and embarrasses the owner.
Therefore Leica generally does not have this problem. Most of the owners self regulate by their own choice.
