Canon Powershot A410 or A510?

Guys I need your comments/opinion on this. Im planning to buy a P&S camera this weekend for my brother and been reading tons of reviews and forums about this two new models of powershot A410 and A510.

Give you a short specs on this two models both is a 3.2MP camera,uses SD/MMC cards and supplies 2xAA batts(whoa! compare to A75/A85 uses 4xAAs). 3x zoom on A410 and 4x on A510.

Highlights on this two models are, for A510 it has manual setting capabilities. For A410 since it's a newer model it uses DIGIC II proc which means image quality is greater than A510.(they say sensor size is bigger than A510)

First I'm eye-ing to get a powershot A series because they have this manual settings(yung A510) but when I saw sample shots on A410, image quality was greater than A510. Now I'm considering A410 even it doesn't have manual settings or still get the A510 with manual setting if image quality is not that far from A410.

They have this A610, same performance like A410 (DIGIC II) with manual settings but Im sure price range is higher.(off my budjet)

Personally, if the choice is between the A410 and the A510, I would choose the A510 for the 5mp sensor, the manual controls and also the design of the camera. The sample photos shows comparable quality (from the link you provided) except the A410 produces sharper images, but I think this is due to in-camera sharpening. I do noticed there is a wrong WB used for a sample photo for the A510...hmm

I think u should get the A510. Just in case ur bro is interested in photography, then he has lots of functions to play with. I'm using the A520, gd cam!

bought mine for abt $470, Cam + 256MB SD card. but now should be cheaper. I've posted some pics here b4, but forgot where already. Some other time maybe.
