I just want to find out for 85mm F1.8 what can it be used for ?

Any lens can be used for any purpose under any conditions.

For my use, the 85mm 1.8 was generally a walkaround and portrait lens that also did landscaping for me because of the high resolution when stopped down. I sold it to purchase a 50 1.4 because it was a focal length that I liked better, and I already owned a 70-200 2.8L IS. I do miss mine, though.

Great lens, fast and accurate focus, small and light package, very resistant to flare but very bad chromatic abberation control (purple fringing).

for this range, i personally prefer the 100mm f2.8 macro usm which is more versatile, as fast focussing but slower by just slightly over one stop.

What can it be used for? For dam good portraits, street shots, shooting xmm's, etc whatever your creative fancy calls for some nice bokeh pics.

Almost anything, just limited to your mind's imagination.

I mainly use mine for portraiture (candid/posed), events, sometimes streets and random stuff. Great lens with excellent IQ and one of the most value for money Canon lenses out there.
