then "quick quick where's that ctrl-Z key!"

agree.

i think its kinda cool that people are willing and daring to do such stuff.

Cool? why 50 f1.4? Why not a 50 f1.2L? Even cooler. See how to remove red band and change to orange or purple band-canon new limited addition series?

I thought these things must be done in controlled environment to prevent dust? What they call clean room is it?

A bit OT:

Does service centers clean their lenses inside a cleanroom?
Or is there any shop that performs cleaning inside a cleanroom?

woah, what if some one tries it and forget how to assemble back?
There are ways to avoid forgetting the sequence: you can separate each screws, you can use my post, you can take photos of each step and so on...
Last option: contact 98151974, just don't loose any parts

then "quick quick where's that ctrl-Z key!"

Or you can quit without saving :bsmilie:

you don't need to dismantle a lens just to hide/change the red ring.
Use gaffer tape or other colored tape ;)
May I ask, why would somebody hide the red ring when it's obvious that you're using an L lens? In fact, I know some guys who puts a red tape on their ordanary lens to make it look like an "L"

well, i'm sure they are expected to.

try searching for the word "cleanroom" in this forum

Sorry but why...? You doing for experiment?

The lens got fungus. Need to access the inner parts to clean

Why post?

2. I'm just like other photographers here. Some shoot models, some shoot insects, some shoot landscape and so on. Me, I shoot what's inside the lens. :)

There are a lot of good photographers here that if I post my ordinary shots, nobody will pay attention. With this kind of post, some DIY wannabes will pay attention

Good job bro! Thanks for sharing!
