No correction done because lightroom don't have the profile for it.

Hmmm..... very noticeable barrel distortion. Doesn't look complex though. Maybe can be easily corrected.

I notice it's wavy though. May be wrong.

It's not taken straight on to the cabinets, but other reviewers have noted that the distortion control is better on the f4L IS as compared to the f2.8L IS II. ;)

The vignetting is more or less cleared up at f8, with about 1/3ev on f5.6.

We need to get things in perspective (pun intended).

Even for the venerable Nikon 14-24 f/2.8, this is what Photozone says:
"Wide open, the amount of vignetting is very visible, especially at the shorter focal lengths. Stopping down helps to reduce vignetting considerably, but at least half a stop remains even here." Note the > 0.5 stop of vignetting persists up to f/11.

For the Canon 16-35 f/4L, this is what Photozone says:
"The amount of vignetting is very high (2.1EV) at 16mm @ f/4 although this isn't any worse than on the old EF 17-40mm f/4 USM L. Stopping down to f/5.6 improves the issue significantly and at f/8 it is pretty acceptable within the difficult full format scope. The light falloff remains visible at longer focal lengths & wide-open aperture but most of the corner shading is acceptable by f/5.6 already." The persistent > 0.5 stop of vignetting also persists for the Canon wide-angle lens.

So, nothing to get excited about.

I don't see an issue with vignetting clearing up at f/8. Once lens profiles are in all this is moot since it gets sorted out with a click of a checkbox

Why is Canon Singapore price it so cheap? This is the first time that an agent set costs lesser than a grey set.

High price consumers complain. So they price low lor. Hahaha

This is the first time and the only lens that priced cheaper than a grey set.

What I can recall, there are a few, local set is cheaper than grey set: -)

EF-S 55-250 STM
AF-S 50 f1.8g
AF-S 85 f1.8g
AF-S 18-35g

We are talking about Canon stuff here.

Anyway, thumb up for Canon SG for their competitive pricing in New lenses.

EF-S 10-18 IS STM
EF 16-35 f4L IS USM

Hope they will do the same for
EF-M 55-200 IS STM
:)

+1

Most importantly is the improved edge to edge sharpness over the 16-35 f2.8 mk2
