Hi,
I am planning to get a eos1000d plus another set of lens, currently what i had in mind is 55-250mm IS, which i read in the forum is suitable for telephoto.

I had read alot of positive reviews on Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens, is this lens suitable to take travel photos , portraits or scenery?
Is this lens for macro photography such as taking insects and super zoom in only?

I was thinking if Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens can take both macro and daily photos, then i can consider it.

Thank you.

Hi Mercy81, looks like you are pretty new to DSLR. I suggest you read more about the functions of different lens before rushing into buying.
Good source of understanding on Canon lens. See link:

Macro lens as the name suggest is design and use for macro photography, but you can achieve head and shoulder portrait photography as well.

for day-to-day use, i'd say the 18-55 kit lens is much more useful than the 55-250.

would strongly suggest u to use the kit lens first.

never rush into any purchase (lens, flash, filters etc).

remember, no amount of gear will replace sound fundamentals.

Yes I would suggest that the18-55 kit and the 55-250 setup. This will cover most of your needs for a start...;)
