canon 450d...sporty mode..blur picture,why?

i used the sport mode of canon 450d to take photo on my dog which was kept jumping..
the picture result was blurred...
why?!

The sports mode of a family car just isnt fast enough sometimes, if u know what i mean. ;p

Alternatively, blur-ness can be attributed to many factors. without a pic, its just too hard to ascertain the prob.

Sports mode just means it will aim for as high a shutter speed as it can. But if there's too little light, the auto ISO range is maxed out and your lens does not have a large enough aperture, then the shutter speed will need to slow down. Thus resulting in blurry pictures.

Autofocus is not tracking? Are you moving the camera with the dog in the viewfinder?
