Hi all,

If you have Canon 24-105 F4 MK II Lens, is it true that it does not have the Canon date code marked at the rear end of the lens, i.e. UExxxx?
It seems that it only has a 10 digits lens serial number engraved on its body.

Please advise. :)

Thank you

Ed

Hi Shendeerzi,

Yes it's true that some of the newer L lenses do not have the 'U*' lens codes anymore. For example the Canon 24-70 f2.8 II & 70-200 f2.8 II. However you can still determine the lens age with the serial number using this article : http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Canon-Lenses/Canon-Lens-Aging.aspx

Cheers!
