Canon 17-40 and 17-55, which one better?

Hi, i need some advise. Canon 17-40mm and 17-55mm lens, which one suit my body more? and which one picture quality is better? my camera is EOS 1000D.

although I havent tried the 17-40, my vote goes with 17-55mm still. try to google maybe 17-40 would fit for your taste..

if you are using crop cam.. then 17-55 is a better choice..

but go and try out the size n weight to body ratio...

EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 is the better one :thumbsup:... It is considered the L lens in the EF-S lineup...

What made you think 17-40 is better? Is it L or EF? If none of the mentioned then go for 17-55 without rethinking.

17-55 probably one of the best lens for cropped body.

If L or EF is your concern then you may look at 16-35 also... sorry to poison you

Eh.. 17-40 is meant to be a UWA lens for FF bodies... go for 17-55/2.8 la.

For crop cam, should be 17-55 .. but if you think to upgrade body soon, it will be different story...
