Cannot view videos on the fly in YouTube

Anyone can help?
I cannot see the video when I click on any of the videos uploaded into YouTube.
Got a message like

either your Java script not turned on or you do not have latest flash player.

But I think I do. And have downloaded both.
Checked internet options and my java script is turned on.

I managed to crack it. Took up to 12.40am.
The reason was not my firewall.
Took persistent trying.
It may be my newly installed IE7 playing punk and
trying to lock out software from other manufacturer like Adobe or MacroMedia.
I suppose Microsoft makes a flash player of its own?
Anyway, software like IE7 likes to take over your computer.
(I think) It even made auto installing Flash Player direct from Adobe site extremely difficult.
I had to download separately elsewhere and then run.
And even then the report I got, when installing Flash Player was something like "could not find my browser plug in directory" (is it another case of Microsoft locking out other people's software?)
I had to go to Internet Tools > Manage Add Ons > Enable or Disable Add Ons.
Then I spotted that even after installing, IE7 may have disabled my Flashplayer.
I had to manually enable it.
Then tried YouTube.

It worked!!!


The videos played beautifully with sound.

Aiyo. Big software giants are so jealous of each other.

IC, maybe you should try use Firefox, in may aspect it is better then IE.:bsmilie:

Thanks for the firefox and opera recommendations.
Think I will use this IE7-flash set up for a while now that I have cracked the problem.

Just watched on Youtube a Koh Samui video of the blue green aquamarine sea waters, wow. Produced by some tour promo.

I suspect the giants have decided that this on-line short video sharing thing is the next big application.

See the nokia N series advertisements? Even phone makers are in on the act.

That may be why Google bought YouTube for many $ billions?

The problem with big players is that they don't like to share the pie.

Look what happened when Microsoft muscled in on Netscape.

They are not satisfied with one piece of pie.
They want to push all others who were there first, away from the table and take the whole pie.

I've upgraded to IE7 and I've no issues with playing videos on Youtube.

Could my problem come from my Norton Antivirus?

I update my Windows regularly.
Do not know if you have updated using Microsoft Update link.
They have security updates from time to time.

If you have not, can try and see if it affects anything after the update.

Oh just recall, I was trying to hunt for Flash Player (from any company) at the Microsoft site where I can look for add-ons.
No chance.
Nothing.

Well, maybe next version of IE will come with a flash player built-in (from a software company they can buy over)
And MS may just set up a competing video sharing site to take the user traffic away from YouTube and many other similar sites.
