Hi, I am wondering if any one of you here has this issue where you cannot complete your IPT /RT on time. I just went into NS portal and is shocked to see that I have to complete my RT or IPT by 13th Nov. I have just book my first IPT session on 4th Nov and I doubt I can clear all session by 13th Nov. I am now in my second year after ORD. On my first year, I book it early after my birthday as I have time. But I have more commitment this year, so I am actually planning to take it on Nov and Dec. Only to my horror that I heard from a friend that I have to clear it 5 months after my birthday and confirmed it in the site.

I am asking if anyone has encountered this before and what happened after. No joke please. :(

Perhaps you might wanna call up your HQ HR and ask them for opinion. If you are first time offender, at most kena "charged". No worries, first timer just wear Smart 4 go to HQ and give your side of story. Worse come to worse pay fine. Yours is small issue compared to get caught with electronics during ICT, don't be too worried about it :)

Look for your HQ HR and see what can be done for you. At least there is a record that you BOTHER. You might wanaa be on the ball subsequently. Mindef don't' give a darn about your commitment unless you are out of Singapore with approval.

Have you ever pass the ipp before? I know of a friend or rather my army buddy. He will always fail in his first attempt by a few minutes. He will pass in the next test. Reason? He know he cannot afford to fail again. Sometimes, it is a mind game.

Aiyah just go bk ippt fail. Then go rt for next yr window. Get 10 dollar per session.. ( if iirc total pay like silver ). Get paid to escape work lol

hard earned money....(very hard to earn..)

*IIRC, it's about $12-$16 per session*

I think the pay is according to the Rank. Anyway TS no need to be too stressed by it, just talk to the your unit and the FCC people. If they cannot do anything about your Window period, just do the RT according and book early next year :) no choice really

I was "charged" before too, I just went to mindef, explained to them and they waived off the fine.... then subsequently i did RT... then now i go for the IPT programme every year faithfully :what:

now the IPT is almost like 1 or 2 session per month till 3mths before bday then go for 8 sessions of RT in the remaining 3 months...

Thanks alot, doesn't seems that bad from all the replies. Looks like I will talk to the PTI on my first session of IPT. If still no way out, I call my HQ and see how it can be done ba.

if I'm not wrong, you can extend your RT/IPT session for another 3 months. best to check with the PTIs.

just try take ippt, pass you lucky, fail then book RT lor, if kena charged also simple no need stress.

Just call HQ, tell the IPPT clerk and your S1 about it.
can waive one if first time offender. LOL.
Cos i was once a clerk (thou not IPPT clerk) :p

Nvm, call the reputated unhelpful helpline and the lady told me that I have 9 months allowance for IPT and 5 months for RT. So I decided to take IPT and she helpfully help me book my first session this saturday afternoon at Khatib Camp. Somebody really need to post those guideline clearly on their site. The instruction is very misleading for just ORDed personal.

Either you train or downgrade. Its bloody waste of time going for RP/IPT.

my camp mates, after ord for 4 yrs, they have been going to RT twice a year. Phase 1 and 2. One of them even affect his job and he got fired due to RT

kanna once, phase 1. after 2 session, report sick, go specialist and now happily downgraded to C9. Of course my case is genuine :)

honestly... your friend is ridiculous. he's blaming his job loss on RT?

he should ask himself first why he even failed IPT in the first place.

the army gives you incentives to keep fit, i.e. the monetary rewards.

my best 2.4km timing is 8min 15sec. 20 pull-ups. shuttle run 8.4 sec. sit-ups 50 in a minute. standing broad jump 2.65m.

if your friend isn't disciplined enough to keep fit, and it cost him his job, why's the blame on RT?

why the RT and IPT?? The whole troublesome scenario?? think SAF nothing to do????

becos they are making sure all this to ensure ppl are fit. they make it troublesome so that ppl will go train. cannot blame SAF for all this, blame urself for it.

Unable to comment. Never went for RT. The new style IPPT quite soft already. The old style test was tougher.
If we gather a group of Gurkhas to witness our IPPT and they see soldiers failing, they will be flabbergasted. How can an army be so soft.
