can anyone help me to translate what does this means:

1:4-5.8 55-300mm ed

as in 1:4-5.8 means?

ed means?

If I wants a lens with nice bokah(hopefully i spell right), what kind of "specs" should i look for for a 18-55mm lens?

and if I wants a good marco, what are the specs to look for and kindly translate the "specs"

tia

1:4-5.8 is the max aperture at wide-angle and telephoto focal lengths respectively

ED stands for Extra-low Dispersion

Its very hard to specify "bokeh" in a sense, cos its the quality of the background blur.. But to get more background blur, you should look for a large aperture lens..

Do a search if you still don't understand what those terms mean..

we have a forum thread that deals with photographic notes for newbies. Read it. And your manual.

you're asking for a lot of info :) it would take a lot of effort to explain. Read up on maximum aperture, and bokeh. Google will provide you with lots of info, or you can borrow some books from library :)
