Can Nikon D70s get ambient shots right?

I am currently holding 2 cameras. One D70s and one 30D. Use it for different situations.

My Canon 30D is only used if I wish to shoot ambient shots by managing it with the high ISO.

Can I check whether can D70s manage to shoot ambient shots properly for I do not seem to have the skills to do that properly at all. Noise control is a problem. Any advice.

overexpose...it MIGHT help.

1) Use a software to lower the noise (e.g. Noise Ninja)
2) Get a tripod and go for low shutter-speed with low ISO

With human subjects, quite unlikely to use very slow speed though.

No problems for me with the D70s..
