Can CF card be formatted in computer?
Read in my camera manual that it should not be done, only can format in camera.
But I did it before reading the manual.
If I can still use the card in my camera and can format the card in my camera, means the card is okie?

Anyway, my 256MB CF card only can take 24 RAW or Extra Fine format shots on my Minolta Dimage 7i. Is that normal?

Nope....

The 24 number is displayed on the screen... I assume its the number of shots I can take....

do it loh. simply fill up the card and download to PC. then check the total filezise. should be near to 240MB.

But when I can still use the card... means that the card is okie rite? I dunno wat formatting the card in the computer will do....

formatting on the computer is ok. if anything goes wrong, you usually could reformat again in the camera.

Different brand of camera have different RAW formats. It's unlike JPEG or (Joint Pictures Expert Group) which is an international compression standard.

I believe Nikon's RAW is different from Minolta's RAW and so on.

You can ask a fellow 7i user, if his 256Mb CF @ RAW is indeed 24 exposures.

Formatting CF on PC using CF readers or multi-readers is OK, I have done that multiple times. Though usually I use the delete files method rather than the right-click and format.
