We know that the latest Nikon dSLR can remove CA. But what about PS or other software - is there any function that just simply remove CA, just like removing noise or other lens artefacts.

CA - chromatic aberration...caused by different wavelengths of light (colors) characterised by a purplish fringe on the image especially the bright areas

Lightroom has a slider to reduce/remove the CA

filter --> distort --> lens correction

look for fringing tools tada

There are various ways to remove CA in Photoshop.

  • The tool inside the Lens Correction filter is basically useless. I've never yet seen it do an acceptable job on CA.
  • If you shoot raw, ACR has a better filter for removing CA.
  • In some cases -- many, actually -- you can do a better job removing the CA manually. There are several ways to do that, but here we need an image to see which one will work.
