Cameras in Fujifilm S5000 category

Hi all,

I've been tempted by my boss's S5000 to upgrade my DC. I've read/searched several forums and review sites on the S5000, and tried looking for other DCs that are in the same category. The problem is that it's pretty hard trying to pick out which camera is in the same category from the many available. Seems like there aren't many DCs in this category. Could someone list out some similar DCs?

The criteria:
- Both manual and auto options
- Priced under S$1K.

Basically a DC that allows more control then the typical AF models, but not quite a DSLR in terms of features and price.

Panasonic FZ2 & FZ10, when they are available in Singapore.

Before I got my S5000, I was quite set on the Panasonic FZ2.
I was looking for a cam with high optical zoom and one which looks a SLR.....
Pricing was also a deciding factor.

I would pick the FZ10, for it's Leica lens and it's constant f/2.8 aperature throughout it's 12X zoom.

Though I doubt it will cost below $1k.
