Can anyone recommend me a setup to bring to japan
i will be using a Canon 400d
Need advice on what lens to bring.
(I will be going tokyo)

depend on ur shooting style.

wat lenses u got?

going to rent lens...
now im saving up for a body first
im using a friend's 400d

Would you be using your friend's lenses as well? If yes, what would those be? What do you intend to shoot in Japan? Landscape? Street? Night scenes? Will you be in the rural or city? Not much info you have provided.

Thx snoweagle

To ziploc:
My friend has only the body.
and
I will be using it for landscape and street mostly.
and some portrait shots.
I will be in the city most of the time.
I will be in Japan, Tokyo for a week.
i will be just outside the city for a day or two
Thx for replying :)

There u go, just get the kit lens. If u've to rent, take the 18-200 IS or 17-55 f/2.8 IS.

10-22mm + 50mm + tripod. :)

the kit lens will serve you well if you intent to shoot some general photos and most of all, go light and enjoy your trip. :)

thx guys!
to choose which 1 to rent
the wideangle Canon 18-55 mm f3.5-5.6 IS
or
zoom lens Canon 28-135 mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM 10 (8)

Thx Jlkk76
and snoweagle and Ziploc!

In that case you could consider a wide to mid range zoom. I'm not a Canon user so my recommendation could be wrong, but depending on your budget, you could probably consider one the following items:

17-55/2.8 IS USM
18-200/3.5-5.6 IS
An external flash
A tripod
A lens cleaning kit
A bag to carry them around

Yup agree. With 28mm you will only get around 45mm after the 1.6 crop factor, and that is not really wide enough for urban landscape.

so...
which lens should i get?
i will probably rent from paradigm

oh yah, plus a tripod, best get a remote as well...gd for nite shoot.

Sigma lens kinda heavy....just my 2 cents..

How many lenses are you willing to carry?

My recommendations, choose from

1) 10-22 (If you like taking wide angle sceneries) or
2) 18-55 (IS version) or
3) 17-55 or 17-50 tamron

+

4) 55-250

Would be sensible to rent and try for at least a day in Singapore before you embark on your trip. Then you'll have a better idea which ones serves your purpose and shooting style best.

I suggest:

1. Canon 10-22mm

AND one of the following
1. Canon 17-85mm IS
2. Canon 18-200mm IS
3. Tamron 17-50mm
4. Canon 17-55mm USM
